Pomelo flower tea is a familiar beverage for families in the North, but it is quite unfamiliar in the South, even though pomelo flowers are a beloved flower of the Vietnamese people. If you have never tried this type of tea, Vua An Toàn would like to share with you how to infuse pomelo flower tea at home in the authentic Hanoi style.

WHICH TYPE OF DRIED TEA IS SUITABLE FOR INFUSING WITH POMELO FLOWERS

Any type of tea can be used to infuse with pomelo flowers. However, for the finished product to have a green liquor color and an authentic aftertaste, it is advisable to use good quality tea to avoid overpowering the pomelo flower fragrance.

HOW TO MAKE POMELO FLOWER TEA AT HOME

Prepare ingredients:

Carefully selected dried tea and pomelo flowers. Infuse tea with a ratio of 1kg dried tea : 300g pomelo flowers.

Newspaper.

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the pomelo flowers

The pistils of the flowers can easily cause the tea to spoil when infused, so you should remove them before infusing.

Step 2: Infuse the tea

The container for infusing the tea (paper box, pot, glass jar, etc.) needs to be kept dry to prevent mold in the tea.

Line the bottom of the pot with a thin layer of newspaper to absorb moisture. Layer the tea and flowers alternately until all ingredients are used. Finally, cover with a layer of newspaper and seal the pot tightly for 14 - 16 hours.

Step 3: Turn the tea

To prevent the tea from spoiling due to condensation, turn the tea every 3 hours.

Step 4: Dry the tea

After 14 - 16 hours of infusing, separate the tea leaves and flower petals and begin drying the tea. Roast the tea over low heat to prevent burning. Stir gently for 20 minutes. The tea is sufficiently dry when the crushed tea leaves do not stick to your hand.

HOW TO STORE INFUSED POMELO FLOWER TEA?

Store the tea best to prevent the intrusion of bacteria and insects by placing it in an airtight bag or container. You should package the tea into small vacuum-sealed portions for more convenience with each use, preventing moisture and mold.

Place the tea in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight.

You can absolutely make pomelo flower tea at home yourself. This will be an interesting experience, challenging your own meticulousness. The tea meets the requirements when the dried tea leaves are not broken, the tea liquor is green, the aftertaste is sweet, and it carries the fragrance of pomelo flowers. We wish you success.
